thanks to @seventeenlovesthree ive gain more of an understanding into dynamics in the og digimon cast that i really appreciate.

however, i am on an ensemble stars deep dive so its also really interesting. especially concerning natsuki hanae’s voice acting in it.

for taichi, he usually uses a deeper part of his regular speaking voice. singing voice is similar, in retrospect. it starts on A3.

for hiyori, he definitely puts on airs. like, once your familiar of what changes. it puts things in perspective. its slightly nasalier. the deepest note he sings is in Faith Conquest, which is F3. this song is also known for its high note which is E5.

lyric wise though, their character songs are interesting. in the case that I believe that it could be swapped and it would fit. hiyori literally means weather and he uses it as a pun.

fantastic days would follow the pattern from the previous character songs.

for their friendships, the long lasting relationships happened when they were younger. both around the age of 11. taichi with the 99 digidestined and hiyori with nagisa.

theyre both characters that are symbolized by the sun. and that turns complicated as they get older.

in the most important situations, as of tri-onwards taichi is known to overthink and hesitate to act. in saga, hiyori overthinks and in turn doesnt warn jun about whats going to happen in the event.

yknow i would have a lot more data but tri and kizuna are trauma piles. and i would have to make the full on character analysis posts on my other account to make a difference and include more.

Taichi was…well. Perfect. Not perfect as he was flawless, no, he was just…amazing to Takaaki. He was…perfect. Everything about Taichi gave him butterflies. He'd swoon if Taichi just looked at him. But there were days where he got worried.

He was worried Taichi would hate him one day.

Just one day, Taichi was going to get tired of him. That Taichi would leave him and throw Takaaki away like if he was easily disposable. Well. Taichi wouldn't be harsh. But…

It got him wondering.

And it made him spiral into horrible thoughts that made his heart race, leaving his body cold and afraid. He could feel tears prick the corners of his eyes some days. He'd sometimes toss and turn in their bed, wondering if Taichi actually hated him because of how he was. He wondered if Taichi…if Taichi hated how their financial situation was. If that was one of the reasons he was unhappy and why he would leave Takaaki.

Takaaki didn't have much. Taichi helped with money, yeah. But Takaaki hated that. It made him feel like a terrible partner. If only his father wasn't such a sack of shit who left them all in debt they would've all been out of poverty. They'd actually be middle class. Not anything lower…

Takaaki would hug Taichi, trying to keep his mind away from all the pain he was making himself feel. Taichi would kiss him and ask him if he was okay. Takaaki would answer with a shake of his head. And Taichi would sigh and hug him back. Telling him it'll be okay, whatever it was. And Takaaku would be grateful for his wonderful husband.

"I love you." Takaaki whispered.

"I love you, too." Taichi said back with a smile.

He loved Taichi. And he fully trusted and believed Taichi. But sometimes his brain wanted to harm him. To tell him that Taichi was lying. And that sweet, amazing smile was all fake. Fake…

"I'm sorry. I'm sorry I can't provide much. I'm sorry of our way of life…I'm sorry you're in this financial state. I wouldn't be upset if you left, you know that, right?" Takaaki said randomly as they laid in bed. Takaaki held Taichi in his arms as Taichi snuggled near him. "Aki? What are you talking about? Why would I leave you?" Taichi asked.

"Because…maybe you're just unhappy with how everything is. And that you're tired of me and…and you lie when you say you love me. Maybe it's just me being awful to myself and just being downright stupid. But…I'm just afraid." Takaaki rambled, he could feel tears in his eyes again for a second time that day. But he didn't want to let them fall again.

Taichi held his husband's face in his hands. "Takaaki Ishimaru, I love you. And I always will. I knew what our situation was going to be like when I asked you to marry me. I knew that from the start. And guess what? I still asked you to marry me. And what did you say?" Taichi asked, his cute face getting all serious.

"I said 'Yes'…" Takaaki answered.

"Exactly! And we had a wedding. A wedding so amazing we both started to cry! And I'm still happy. I worry about your health and sometimes that gets me upset, but that's because I care, Aki! You're the most amazing husband I could ask for." Taichi said with a bright smile. Now Takaaki started to cry again. He just let his tears fall at the kind words.

Fuck. He was so sweet.

Takaaki kissed Taichi's lips. "I love you so much, Taichi." He said as he cried softly. Taichi wiped away any tears that fell down Takaaki's cheeks. "Same here. Always." Taichi kissed him. Taichi laid his head on Takaaki's chest, hugging his husband tightly. "You shouldn't have to worry about such a thing, Love. Because you're the only man I need and want." Taichi gave him another bright smile before closing his eyes to go to sleep.

Takaaki nodded, "Okay…I-I'm glad." Takaaki couldn't help but smile as well. He held Taichi closer and fell asleep along with his beloved. His heart racing, but in a good way. His cheeks growing red from all the affection he was feeling. He loved his husband. And he was glad his husband loved him back.

Do I think this is better then the original kdrama Itaewon Class? Everyone has their own opinions but for me a hundred percent yes absolutely. The storyline is pretty much the same but the characters are a bit more written better. I definitely liked Takeuchi Ryoma much more than Park Seo Joon. It could be the way they both were directed differently, no clue since I usually love Joon’s dramas and Itaewon was just meh for me while this was top notch.

Goshiki would always ask the rest of the team to have lunch together, all starry-eyed in contrast with the way he tried to look chill. So when he stopped asking, Semi definitely noticed.

The setter looked around with a keen eye after picking up his tray, leaning around the corners to try and find the younger volleyball player.

He spotted him over by the windows, at the end of a table sitting opposite of you.

The two of you were laughing and talking, leaning towards each other with eagerness at whatever topic you were discussing.

Goshiki’s ankles were locked together under his chair and you were quietly tapping your feet. The innocent infatuation was so obvious it made Semi smile softly.

“Did Goshiki get a girlfriend?” he asked the other third-years as he sat down.

“Mom of the group and you haven’t noticed Goshiki gushing about his new girlfriend?” Tendo asked, cackling loudly and making others turn with dirty looks.

Semi rolled his eyes. “Washijo made me train with Shirabu this week,” he argued.

“Well, our dear youngest starting player has gotten himself an adorable little girlfriend.”

Goshiki followed you to your club after school, holding your hand with a spring in his step while you walked and then hugging you before leaving. The second he rounded the corner out of your sight, he took off in a sprint towards the gym. He barely made it on time, blending in with the others just as Washijo blew the whistle, telling everyone to gather around.

They walked onto the court in teams of three, and Semi patted Goshiki hard on the shoulder. “Kiki, congrats on getting a girlfriend!”

Goshiki’s cheeks heated up and he nodded proudly. “Thank you. She’s so cute, I think I love her.”

Semi whistled and Taichi scoffed at what he heard. “Have you kissed?” he teased, watching as Goshiki’s pride broke down in two seconds.

“K-kissed?”

After your clubs finished, Goshiki waited for you outside, taking your hand so you could walk together towards the dorms. As you got to where the girls and boys were split to each half of the building, you slowed to a stop.

He turned to you and took in a sharp breath, hand feeling clammy in yours but still holding on.

You smiled at him with that sweet smile he liked so much, and he almost forgot what he was going to say, smiling back at you instead with a soft laugh. “How was club?”

“Really good! I think this will get me a huge boost for college admissions,” you answered, then told him about your latest project while he listened. However, his eyes drifted slightly downwards now and then.

“That’s great, I hope I can see it when you’re done,” he said. There was a slight pause as he stepped a little closer, blinking nervously.

“Tsutomu?” you whispered.

“Can we kiss?”

You took a sharp breath, trying to contain your smile to seem a little cool about it and suddenly worrying immensely about your breath. “Yes.”

He leaned closer in intervals, a little at a time, the other hand resting on your waist because he wasn’t sure where else to put it. You put your free hand on his shoulder, slowly trailing up to the nape of his neck as his puckered lips finally met yours.

They were slightly dry, you thought, but the butterflies that took over your stomach didn’t let you dwindle much on that fact. It was just a small kiss, but you were both giggling with happy smiles as you pulled away.

“Goodnight then,” he giggled, leaning in to once again peck your lips before turning around and walking to his dorm.

“Goodnight, Tsuto!”

Come morning, the team had early practice before classes started and Goshiki skipped out of the locker room. Semi raised an eyebrow, Tendo smirked knowingly, and Ushijima spoke up about it. “You seem happy.”

“It’s nothing,” he shrugged, sitting down to do some stretches before they began.

Semi tsk-ed and leaned on his shoulders, forcing him into a bigger stretch. “Come on, you can tell us.”

Goshiki winced and controlled his breathing as his muscles warmed up. “We… kissed.”

And while the second-years watched in disgust, all the third-years exploded into whoops and cheers while the first-year flushed at the attention.

“Whatever guys, it’s not that big of a deal,” he said, acting coy, but it was obvious to everyone that this was a big deal for him.

Now he needs to figure out the best time to tell you he loves you.

Juza: Now that ya mention it, you got a book of short stories at the last one, didn’t ya, Tsuzuru-san?

Tsuzuru: Yeah, I was curious about this one that one of the upperclassmen told me about, but it happened to be out of print.

Taichi: Damn, lucky! Where’s that book now?

Tsuzuru: After I finished reading it, I started passing it around the company to anyone who wanted to read it.

Tsuzuru: That reminds me, I wonder who’s got it now…

Taichi: Who are the ones who wanted to read it?

Tsuzuru: Umm, Miyoshi-san, and Takato-san have already read it… And I think Furuichi-san and Tsukioka-san said they were interested too.

Jack Jeanne March/April 2025 News

Apologies if someone has already done a big news roundup post but I figured I'd write one for covering the fourth anniversary stuff and new book and manga releases.

This year's anniversary art took a very different direction from the formal styles from last year's with a more streetwear look. Official website here.

We got a livestream too with Yuka Terasaki (Kisa), Masumu Ono (Kasai), and Taichi Kusano (Mare) where they read some fan mail about things people like about JJ and which class they'd be in. The stream didn't reveal a lot of new news, although it does sound like Ishida and Towada are working on the sequel pretty much every day. Towada also posted this cute art before the stream on Bluesky.

On another stream Kisa's VA did with Gakuto Kajiwara (Shirota) she mentioned that she's only met with Ishida twice so far (and that he reminds her of Kenshi Yonezu??) so it sounds like probably a lot is going on in the planning and writing stage, but they're not at the recording stage yet. Also please watch this adorable clip of them singing Faded Color together.

As far as anniversary news, a lot of it was the expected things (mostly stuff that's hard to access outside of Japan) like Joysound karaoke collab, Gratte cafe collab, popup shops in Shibuya and Umeda with a little digital stamp collection game. I'm expecting merch to be sold online on Broccoli's store after the shops close at the end of March (requires a JP address so you will likely need a proxy shipping service outside of Japan). In addition to the acrylic stands and pins, there was a cute Tummy coffee tumbler and a sorta itabag-style tote with a window in it for showing off merch. They also announced a new drama CD coming out based on Towada's birthday stories (currently untranslated to my knowledge).

But the most exciting thing is that we're getting some new content! The first is a novel by Towada called 玉坂の光跡 or "Tamasaka's Trail of Light" which includes both the first anniversary novel "Happy Anniversary" (which used to be free but has sadly been cut to just a sample) and a new episode of 30k characters. It's a bit over 300 pages long which makes it slightly longer than the summer novel and Seven Winds. There's also some pre-order bonuses (art from Stella Worth and a visual board with a short story from Animate)

The second is a manga collection titled ジャックジャンヌ FOLIAGE ～アンバー・オニキス～ (Jack Jeanne FOLIAGE - Amber & Onyx) which has both Puppet and Parsley manga with some new art. If you want to check out the JP versions, I suggest trying to do so before April 17th as I'm unsure if they'll continue to be available for free after the commercial release.

But perhaps one of the most exciting things is that just today Ishida announced a new two-part manga one-shot published in Ultra Jump on April 18th. It's called "Duckweed" and will be focused on Minorikawa's first year after being picked to the be class lead's assistant and his challenges in managing all the Rhodonite girlies. Unlike the others, I do not expect this one to be posted officially online for free since it's being published.

For those who were maybe hoping for more sequel news, I do think the biggest thing we can take away from all this between the note at the end of Parsley, Kasai and Mare on the anniversary stream, and now a Minorikawa manga is that I get the strong sense the sequel will take place in the following year with Kisa as a second-year. I'm not sure how they will make this work with the graduated students, but that seems to be the direction all signs are indicating.

I swear, if I hear one more person call Daisuke and Takeru the Taichi and Yamato of their season I will explode.

Now, I just want to say that everyone has their own opinion and they can have their opinion.

Yet, when people don't know basic storytelling principles and character archetypes it annoys me.

This is just a example of people not knowing character archetypes and how one tells a story, and a problem of mischaracterization.

I'm not trying to shame people for not knowing, it's just that storytelling is not being taught the right way even though illiteracy is a such an important thing in just about everything.

I am just hear to here to teach people.

So, let me teach out about character archetypes and storytelling, time for class.

Now, I'm not saying that Daisuke isn't like Taichi, that is literally the whole point of his character.

Daisuke is meant to be like Taichi, he gets the Digimental of Courage and Daisuke often acts a lot like Taichi.

He runs into things without thinking, doesn't fear enemies that are stronger then him, and he's the leader of his team and is pretty good at it.

I'm not getting into if Daisuke is a good leader that's a conversation for another day, this is about Daisuke and Takeru.

Daisuke is a lot like Taichi, but he's also like Yamato, because Daisuke is meant to be mix of Taichi and Yamato.

Daisuke acts a lot like Yamato too. He doesn't want to hurt in friends, very evident in the episode that this screen shot is from.

Daisuke also cares about his friends greatly, openly sacrificing himself to the Kaiser is it meant his friends would be okay.

Daisuke saves them from Belial Vamdemon at the end of the season, he doesn't even get tricked by Belial Vamdemon because he isn't scared and he bealives in is friends.

Daisuke is a mix of the Chosen Child of Courage and Friendship, so he's like Taichi and Yamato which already makes it hard to call him the Taichi of the season since he is both the Yamato and the Taichi.

Now, onto Takeru. Takeru is nothing like his brother, that's why he's not his brother and his own character.

Takeru is his own person, and doesn't handle things like his brother did. Takeru openly cares about his friends when they meet and doesn't act like a lone wolf

He doesn't get into fights with them or yells at them for anything, sure, he gets made at Ken when he's the Kaiser but that's because of something else that will not be talked about here.

Takeru trusts Daisuke's decisions when it comes what they should do because Daisuke is the leader and is better at leading the team than Takeru would ever be.

Again, this is also not a talk about how some people think that Takeru should have been the leader and not Daisuke, let's get back on track people.

There is only one time in the whole 50 episode anime where Daisuke and Takeru get even close to fighting like Taichi and Yamato did.

It's in this episode where they fight about attacking Agumon and Daisuke doesn't want to hurt one of his friends when Takeru knows fighting is the only way to save Agumon.

They don't even fight, they just insult each other and start pulling at each other's shirts. They don't fight like Taichi and Yamato did, cause their not Taichi and Yamato

They get along better at the start then Yamato and Taichi did, and never once do they yell or fight each other across the season.

Now, that doesn't mean that Takeru and Daisuke doesn't butt heads, I'm not saying that they don't.

They often but heads because of Hikari and the fact that Takeru and Hikari are friends and Daisuke has a crush on her.

So they butt heads and argue often and if they have to be together for an extended time they tease each other and fight over Hikari.

Yet they never fight to the level that Taichi or Yamato did, they only really tease each other and then go back to fighting. They never get angry at each other, only annoyed.

Another thing is that Takeru doesn't serve the same purpose in 02 that Yamato served in Adventure.

Yamato is the OG rivel character in digimon, ever other rivel used the same base that Bandai and Toei used for Yamato.

The rivel, or more commonly called the lancer, is meant to be an exact opposite of the the gogglehead, or the leader character.

They are meant to challenge what the leader said, they challenge the leaders dictions and often butt heads with them to create drama and make the leader think about their dictions.

Takeru is not that, Takeru is not the rivel, Takeru is not the lancer character archetype.

If I had to give Takeru an archetype in 02 I would either give him the mentor or boundless optimist archetype.

Either one is good, Takeru does have the Crests and Hope and always believes that they can win and that everything will be fine in the end, which is the archetype boundless optimist.

Takeru also does have experience with the Digital World and often helps the other kids learn about it along with Hikari, but any of the original eight digidestined could have the mentor archetype so I prefer the boundless optimist archetype.

Not even Ken is the lancer archetype.

When he's the Kaiser he's just the enemy, the thing that the protagonist have to defeat to get to their goal.

Then when he's Ken and no longer evil he was the classic seventh ranger trope. Just like Hikari was in Adventure.

I've seen people call Ken the rivel, and he's also not that archetype, sorry to say but their isn't a rivel in 02.

The archetype doesn't exist in Digimon Adventure 02. No characters fit it, not Takeru nor Ken, nor anyone.

I love Takeru and Daisuke's relationship. Whether you see it as romantic or platonic I love it.

I love the progression from how they dislike each other and butted heads to being great friends and respecting each other.

Yet they are not the Taichi and Yamato of their season, while Daisuke is the leader archetype, Takeru is not the lancer or rivel, Ken isn't the lancer or rivel.

Nobody is. The archetype does not exist in Digimon Adventure 02.

Again, I'm not trying to shame people, if you don't like this then you are intitled to your opinion but I am also intitled to mine.

Like I said, this is a problem of people not knowing storytelling and character archetypes and mischaracterization.

I just hope this taught you something that you didn't know.

omi took some pictures for taichi’s little sister’s [?] class since they were having a little event day. he got into the habit of saying ‘ok now biiig smiles!!! :DD’ before taking pictures. he accidentally said this when taking a picture of the rest of akigumi when they were out for lunch later that week. taichi went full smiley like always. sakyo was visibly taken aback [his face was essentially ?!?]. juza was slightly blurry bc he didnt expect omi to talk around 3 octaves higher than normal [he looked like <:o?].

There's definitely been a moment where all of class 77 and 78 just get very confused over why Aoi, Chiaki, Chihiro, Gundham, Kiyondo, Kiyotaka, Peko, Sayaka and Toko are all walking home together in the same direction even though they don't seem like the type to hang out together as all friends. Which they ARE friends (kinda), but it's mainly because they all live together as siblings.

They all had to get the classes together to explain why and they all just stare in shock. Except Mondo, Hiro and Makoto. Hiro knows because he visits them often, Mondo is Taka's boyfriend and Makoto is pretty close to Taka as a friend. But everyone else is just surprised at all of them being siblings, especially with people like Sayaka.

There was definitely a lot of confused looks, comments and murmurs. It took them by surprise, so much so it was like they were hit by a truck. But at least they knew why the group left school together. Though, they're still a little shocked.

I Hear the Sunspot Ep 5 Stray Thoughts

Last week, Taichi started working at the restaurant where Miho met him during the break. He and Kohei didn't have much time to see each other, and Kohei's mom encouraged him to invite Taichi to the festival. They got rained out and Kohei confessed his feelings to Taichi, who didn't seem to fully understand them. Taichi has also decided not to explain the situation with Miho to Kohei, who thinks Taichi is pursuing her romantically. Kohei has decided to get a different note taker instead.

Descartes! I have been enjoying the philosophy class as a frame for digging into some of the themes. I wonder what existentialism will bring out of Taichi.

OOF. He took notes, but Kohei isn't there.

I totally get Taichi's friends. After a week of him whining about Kohei I would make him go talk to him, too. Taichi didn't tell Kohei everything, and so here's where we are.

I like the intro song for this show.

I'm glad Mama Sugihara got to see Taichi eat.

Wow, they're just leaving all this cream on his face.

Oh, I'm getting emotional already about Mama Sugihara asking Taichi to not give up on her son.

I love the shifting of a shadow to tease that someone is overhearing. It's gotta be Kohei coming with the phone.

Good job, show. I like Kohei pretending he didn't hear Taichi gushing about him. It's a specific kind of mean, given their dynamic, but I understand.

Oh, this is a good fight. Kohei is mad that Taichi doesn't seem to understand all the feelings he's leaking, and what he already confessed. Taichi is mad that Kohei constantly bottles up his feelings and distances them.

Hm, this is definitely a manga panel marching camera angle kiss. However, I kinda like it since it's a one-sided kiss. I hope they kiss properly when they earn it.

Feels like a breakthrough for Kohei to admit he was more afraid of Taichi hating him than losing his hearing.

You know Taichi is thinking hard if he's not eating.

That's right! Send him off with two bento boxes.

Aww, that was so touching. I felt Kohei's emotional surge there.

I really do love a slow burn romance. I like seeing characters getting to know each other better before things turn romantic. I like knowing that they've built a real connection that will grow and mature. I like seeing these two take each other seriously. I like that Taichi was able to continue to protect Kohei from what he didn't like in Miho, because I think that part still needs to be resolved separately from this communication block between them. This show has been so good. I'm glad we adapted it again.

Day 3 - Comfort

My headcanon is that Takaaki needed to sacrifice most of his childhood because of hid father's scandal. Takaaki went to work as early as he could so he doesn't have really "childhood" memories.

So Taichi, after learning that, decided to create some childhood memories for him. So this drawing is Taichi and Takaaki "Hiding under blankets and doing whatever they want and trying to not get caught by their parents". Or at least that's what Taichi told Takaaki. In reality they just drink coffee and talk under blankets with only a phone flashlight turned on.
